Freight Train Experience
Dates:
Take a unique journey in a traditional guard’s Brake Van for a return trip between Buckfastleigh and Totnes.
You will travel on the open veranda of a 1930s ‘Toad’ or 1950s ‘Shark’, providing unrivalled views of the countryside and our railway. On one leg of the journey you will be at the rear of the train and on the other, directly behind the locomotive. Your ticket also includes unlimited travel on our other passenger services during the day, perfect for exploring the local area.
Please note that there are a very limited number of spaces per journey and, when booking, you will select which Brake Van you will be travelling in. Although there is some undercover space available, the best experience can be achieved by standing on the open veranda so please dress accordingly. Due to occasional rough movements, this experience is not recommended for young children or the infirm. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
