Service update - Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th June
Due to the forecast extreme heat, our services on these days will now be hauled by our vintage diesel locomotive Class 33, 33002 “Sea King”. At 66 years old this workhorse is older than some engines! This is to protect the welfare of our footplate crews, and to manage the risk of lineside fires.
This is a great opportunity to enjoy a journey in our heritage carriages, soaking up the views of the river Dart and the luscious countryside, whilst avoiding direct sunlight.
Our trains will feature a buffet carriage, serving hot and cold drinks and light refreshments, including local ale on tap and a selection of ciders, wines and soft drinks. The perfect addition to help you stay cool!
We are closely monitoring the forecasts for the rest of the week and will make further announcements as the onward forecast becomes clearer.
