Tuesday 26th December to Monday 1st January - includes Boxing Day and New Years Day!
Looking for something to do after Christmas Day has been and gone? The South Devon Railway has the perfect day out for everyone with heritage steam trains running from Tuesday 26th December 2023 until Monday 1st January 2024, right through the New Years weekend for the whole of the festive period.
Trains operate between Buckfastleigh station, where this is a large free car park, ideally situated just off the A38, and Totnes Riverside station, which is just a short walk to Totnes National Rail station and Totnes Town.
All of our trains are due to be hauled by a heritage steam locomotive, and will feature a buffet on board serving hot and cold drinks, light refreshments and snacks (including mince pies!). Beer, cider and wine are also available from our on-train buffet.
Trains will be running to the timetable below (except Friday 29th December to Sunday 31st December inclusive when our Winter Steam Gala is in operation). Tickets are on sale now and can be booked in advance via our website. Our normal fares apply.
Between Friday 29th December and Sunday 31st December inclusive, additional train services will operate as part of our Winter Steam Gala. Click here for more details.

Fares
Our standard fares (shown opposite) are valid on all days of our festive services, including the Winter Steam Gala. Please note that return tickets offer travel for one return journey, whereas Ranger tickets offer unlimited travel all day. Single fares are also available.
The usual membership and shareholder discounts (HRA/SDRA/PRIV) are available on return fares for this period (when purchased from our booking offices). No discounts are offered on Ranger tickets.
