South Devon Railway has unveiled three new on-board dining experiences for 2026, expanding its popular hospitality offer and giving visitors fresh ways to enjoy the line’s celebrated journey through the Dart Valley.

The new additions include a Pullman Churchill Breakfast, plus Cream Tea experiences served either in the Pullman Car or the Restaurant Car, complementing the railway’s established programme of Sunday Lunches, Ploughman’s Lunches and Afternoon Teas.

Each package includes unlimited day travel on the railway, combining classic dining with a relaxed heritage rail journey through some of South Devon’s most scenic countryside.

The Churchill Breakfast is designed as a leisurely start to the day, with guests invited to park for free at Buckfastleigh station before travelling by train to Totnes.

From there, visitors can explore the historic town at their own pace, enjoying riverside walks, independent shops and cafés, before returning by rail, all without the need to find or pay for town-centre parking.

The two new Cream Tea options offer a choice of setting, whether guests prefer the refined surroundings of the Pullman Car or the relaxed comfort of the Restaurant Car.

Both experiences allow passengers to soak up views of the River Dart while enjoying a quintessentially Devon treat.

Alongside dining, visitors can make the most of the wider Buckfastleigh site, which is home to a museum, gift shop and walking routes along the river, making the railway a full day-out destination rather than simply a journey.

Alasdair Page, Customer Experience Manager, said the new dining experiences were designed to give visitors more choice and flexibility.

“Our dining trains have always been incredibly popular, and these new options allow us to offer something for different times of day and different styles of visit,” he said.

“Whether it’s a relaxed breakfast journey, a traditional cream tea, or a full day exploring Totnes and the Dart Valley, we want people to see South Devon Railway as part of a memorable day out,” he added.

The new dining options are available to book now, with limited places on each service.
