Mixed Traction Weekend
South Devon Railway Mixed Traction Weekend
Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June 2026
A late addition to our event calendar, this weekend features a feast of steam and diesel trains, and will also see the first runs of visiting locomotive TKh 5374 “Lord Oliver Brown” on the South Devon Railway.
Event highlights:
- Steam and diesel trains operating – 3 locomotives in use each day (5374, 1369 and 25262).
- 5 round trips of diesel haulage behind Class 25 25262.
- Visiting locomotive 5374 Lord Oliver Brown on hire from the Plym Valley Railway with kind thanks to owner Marc Bellin.
- Demonstration freight trains.
- Rare opportunity for a brake van ride behind 5374 for Ranger ticket holders – additional fee applies which will be donated to Children’s Hospice South West.
- On-train bar, including local ale on tap.
- Behind the scenes access to some SDR facilities.
Trains run each day, starting at 0945 and finishing after 1800. The working timetable is available now here – final loco allocations will be confirmed pending successful testing and gauging of 5374, however the diesel turns with 25262 are confirmed.
This event provides a great value day out as our normal ticket prices apply – purchase a Ranger for unlimited all day travel behind all of our locomotives.
