South Devon 1940s Festival, 6th & 7th July 2019

Our ever popular 1940s Festival is back and we’d love to welcome you to our fantastic display of 1940 military and civilian vehicles, live period music, steam trains, trade stands and much more.

PARK & RIDE – Park & Ride services will be in operation during the event due to limited parking facilities at Buckfastleigh. The off-site car park, situated at Devonia in Buckfastleigh, will be signposted and vintage busses will run at regular intervals, or as required, during the day with the last return bus to the car park at 1745.

The star of this year’s 40s Festival will be a Russian T-34 Tank, built towards the end of World War 2. The T-34 was the most produced tank of the Second World War, with over 80,000 built..

This excellent exhibit is visiting from the Cobbaton Combat Collection in North Devon. They have owned it for over 30 years and, in that time, it has appeared in many films and documentaries.

There will be live music from the Riviera Ramblers (Saturday) and Art Deco Duo (Sunday), playing in the ENSA marquee from 12 – 3pm. Here you can also sit down and enjoy a real ale, cider or glass of wine from our bar. The bar is open between 11am – 5pm.

Hot food will be served from the Catering Corps in the NAAFI,  alongside the marquee. There will be a Hog Roast, BBQ and Afternoon Teas along with a sweet shop.

The Devon Military Vehicle Trust will be displaying a large selection of its members’ historic vehicles and displays. The vintage fairground will be in operation and you can enjoy browsing through vintage clothing and collectables as well as hearing of the fantastic work from the various forces charities in attendance.

The US Army, meanwhile have moved in to Staverton in preparation for D-Day. Alight from the train here and watch them in action.

Standard fares will apply. Advance tickets can be purchased from by clicking here.

A valid train ticket is required to enter the 1940s Festival but an event only ticket is available on the day from the gate.
