BR Mk1 Second Open (SO)
W4785, built by BR in York in 1957
W4802, built by BR in York in 1957 W4805, built by BR in York in 1956 Second open, gangwayed, non-compartment stock has seats laid out in eight bays, four on either side of a central vestibule, two seats and a table on one side of the gangway, one on the other, and with two lavatories at one end. When originally built, the last two bays were non-smoking, with smoking permitted throughout the rest of the coach. The open internal layout and large windows make them ideal vehicles from which to view the beautiful countryside through which the South Devon Railway runs.
