An old friend returns: GWR 1450 back on the SDR in August and September

The South Devon Railway is looking forward to welcoming a third visiting locomotive in 2010 as a former Buckfastleigh based ex Great Western Railway tank locomotive returns to the line.

No 1450 was withdrawn from Exmouth Junction in 1965 and came straight into preservation at Buckfastleigh. This much loved engine worked services on our line throughout the 1970s and 1980s before being sold by her owners to Mike Little.

Now 1450 is coming back and will be a special guest at the SDR's Rails & Ales event over the August Bank Holiday, 28th - 30th August and the Heritage Transport Gala on September 11th - 12th.
